London – Serbian striker Nicola Zigic, admits Arsenal was interested in this transfer window. But in the end, Zigic remains idle until today.
“All that you hear in the media is true. Agents I have spoken with Arsenal, but they eventually chose other players,” he said as reported by Sportsmole (5/9).
“We are talking to Arsenal until the last day of the transfer window. I am very happy because my name is on the list of Arsenal. I would gladly join them but the big teams always have a few alternatives other players.”
In this transfer window, the Gunners is looking for a new striker Olivier Giroud following injury. But in the end Arsene Wenger‘s squad to get Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck.
Zigic who is one of the world’s highest attacker (2.02 meters) does not have a club. With Birmingham City contract expired last month.
Together Birmingham, Zigic scored 32 goals in 128 matches. Throughout his career, the 33-year-old played for Red Star Belgrade, Racing Santander and Valencia.
“I’m still looking for some options. We have spoken to a few clubs and I think we will soon decide my future,” he added.
